Last week as we finished up our big kitchen project, I needed something fun an easy to do while my hubby put the cabinet doors back on. I came across this tutorial on how to make felt flowers and was smitten! Jennifer's tutorial calls for felt which I didn't have at the time so I tried it out using fleece, and I love the results! I have since done some in felt but the fleecy ones are my faves, they are so soft to touch and softer looking. Here's how they turned out!
The aqua, red and light pink flowers are felt, the gray and darker pink are fleece. These flowers are great! They are so versatile. You can wear them on a jacket as a pin, glue to a headband, add to your purse/diaper bag or where ever else your imagination takes you!

So, here's how easy they are to make! {And if this mum style is not for you scroll down and check out the darling roses!}
You will need:
- Fleece or felt
- Scissors
- Hot glue
Cut your fleece or felt into strips. About 2-3 inches wide and about 14 inches long. The width and length of your strip determines the size of your flower, so play around with this to find out big you want yours.
Once your fleece is cut and your glue gun is fired up, fold your strip length wise and add a strip of hot glue along the seam.
Now you are going to make cuts all the way down your strip about 1/2 a centimeter apart. Be careful not to cut all the way through. The width of your cuts determines the size of your "petal" so play around with this too.
Then you are going to roll your strip up, gluing as you go.
To add the clip on the back cut a small square of your fabric and clip one of your hair clips to it:
Add a hefty amount of your glue to the back of your flower:
Once you put your fleece in place just trim around your flower so that its in the shape of a circle. That's it! Easy peasy!
Now for the rose looking flowers you will start the same way. A two-ish inch strip that you glue all the way down at the seam. They you are going to cut petal shapes all the way down. You don't want every petal the same size, variation makes it look more natural.
Then, roll it up just like the mum. And here's what you have!
Aren't they cute! These are a fun project and I hope you will try them and report back how you use them!
