Fall Backyard Tablescape

     I'm not one to host "dinner parties", you know the fancy ones with cocktails and expensive cuts of meat, those adult only affairs. Ya, that's not us! We're the 'pizza and kids with close friends' kind of partiers with Diet Coke and kool-aid!
     That being said, I couldn't pass up the changing of the seasons without attempting a fall tablescape, so that if, you know, I wanted to have one of those dinner parties, I would be totally prepared! ;) Thus, not a penny was spent to put this together. This was a backyard inspired tablescape with a little shopping around the house to fill things out!

     I don't own a single charger but wanted to create that look. My youngest and his little neighbor friend went with me into the backyard to find sticks that could be used. These were tied together with twine to hold them in place. I didn't trim the sticks to the perfect length because I loved the inconsistency and twiggyness of them! {I think I just came up with a new word! ;) }

     Not being the dinner party type, I don't own a single cloth napkin. These were made from drop cloth fabric tied with ribbon. They work perfectly for this imperfect setting!

     The flowers were backyard finds too. It was quite a precarious feat to rid them of all of the bumblebees! {I sent the kids to swing for this part~and no bees were harmed in the making of this arrangement!} It probably wont last long~I think I might be allergic to them! :(

     Hubby's antlers made an appearance again {which he loved}. I love these little acorns from Hobby Lobby. I am sure these would be easy to make {if you had the right equipment~dad, this is so up your alley!}

     I love these little lettuce plates I found at Goodwill last year. They make a great spot for the candles and are a nod to the eating that will take place here!

    So, don't expect an invite unless you like pizza and diet coke!

  1. Your flowers are Goldenrod!! A "weed" to some -- a "plant out of place" to others!! Very pretty either way!

  2. Well, Jody, you SHOULD have dinner parties caue you set a BEAUTIFUL table! I am so stealing that "charger" idea. Love the antlers on the table too. Thanks for the inspiration. XO, Pinky

  3. Hi, Jody, I'm visiting from BNOTP. Your tablescape is very creative. I like the branches and the simple drop cloth napkins tied with ribbon! And, the Goldenrod is perfect!
