A few fall changes.....even though its not fall yet!

  OK, so I know its not fall yet.....but......I just couldn't help myself. Something about the kids getting ready to go back to school makes me ready to break out the fall decor.

     I started small, just the hutch and mantel for now. I've got major project plans for this weekend which I can't wait to show you! Not that the hutch switcharoo isn't exciting, I'm just loving a few other things more that I can't quite yet share. {How's that for a teaser!}

     Before I show you the pics, let me preface by saying that my sweet hubby has been waiting for years for me to somehow incorporate his deer rack into the scheme. He had it mounted on some tacky fake wood plaque with emerald green velvet covering the skull cap. Kind of yucky! So, lately I've been seeing lots of racks out there in blogland {of the animal kind! ;)} and knew there had to be a way to tastefully include this.

     In order to make it work I had to take it off the plaque, but had to use something to hide the skull, {again yuck}. The bird does the trick! Here's the final outcome!

     After I put this together I emailed my hubby at work and told him I did something with his antlers. He freaked out just a bit and asked me to send him a pic. When I did he thought I had cut them and panicked. Once he was assured that they were in tact he loved what I'd done......phew!!!!!!

     Hopefully I will be back later in the weekend with my new project and some pictures! I can't wait to show you!

     So please tell me I'm not the only one with fall decor out!

  1. You are the only one in the known world who has any fall decor out at all--not! Lot's of folks are jumping the gun a tiny bit. What you've done so far looks great. I like the antlers on the hutch.

  2. Great display Jody. Thank you for linking up at Shabbilicious Friday.

  3. i think that looks great! i can't get into fall just yet-even tho it's my favorite of all favorites-it's so hot and humid here. now, if there were a crisp coolness to the air, i'd be all fall all the time.

  4. I love the blue background and the eclectic mix of the display! I am a follower of your blog and would love if you could hop over to my new blog ( and share the blog love. Have a great weekend!

  5. Love the hutch! I especially love the (tasteful) use of the antlers-- I just did the same thing with the antlers of my first buck ;) (You can see them on my fall bookshelf here: )
    I also love the turquoise background. I've been going back and forth about painting the back of my shelves... and I think I'm getting close to just doing it ;)
