When we had two boys sharing this room, space conservation was key, so we added shelving from top to bottom to give us more storage options. To help him keep his clothes organized we attached these tags from Hobby Lobby that I painted with chalkboard paint.
Now I will admit that my first plan was to use chalk to write on them, but being the freak that I am I used a paint pen for a cleaner look. The tags are tied to the shelves with a fine gauge wire. Not only does he store his clothes here, this is where he keeps his toys too.
To limit the mess in our small space we use a toy rotation system. He has about 3 toy sets in his closet at a time. At any given time he can trade one of these sets in for another set out of our storage room. This system isn't perfect but it helps to control all the stuff! And it helps the kids not to be so overwhelmed by a bunch of toys. Now they play with what they have more. {In the summer time he might get only one or two totes-this encourages lots of outdoor play} Whenever I shop for Christmas or Birthday gifts, my first thought is 'do I have a tote for this?' If it won't fit in a tote, we don't buy it!
If you missed Brady and Hudson's room check it out here. The three boys share our lower level. In a few weeks I will share with you their finished bathroom.
I hope that this gives you some ideas for your own kid spaces!
