Flower making tutorial

Yesterday I showed you how to make my snowball wreath with a promise that I would be back for the flower making tutorial. There are a bagillion flower making tutorials out there that are really good. These are mine that were accomplished by trial and error {we won't talk about the errors!}.

First is the tattered looking flower here:

To make this guy, start with a strip of fabric {I used a drop cloth} about 1 and 1/2 inches wide and cut about 3/4 of the way down, all along your strip. You can make your "petals" as thin or as wide as you want.
Once you have it cut {see below pic if you aren't sure what I mean}you can make your center with yarn. Wrap your yarn around two little fingers, or one big one, and tie a knot around the base. Cut your loops and lay it out on the end of your fabric strip.

Roll your flower up starting at the end with your yarn center, gluing with hot glue as you go. When you are done it will look like this:

Lastly, fluff and you're done. These flowers were just hot glued into place with a generous amount of glue which may or may not result in a few burnt fingers!

The petal flowers are done in a similar way with the same size fabric strip but this time you are going to cut random petals. The trick here is to make them slightly different sizes so that when you roll them they look random and not even.

     Have fun!
